Thorley U3A Cultures & Customs Group holds meetings and trips through which its members explore and celebrate the cultural mix of our own and other societies. Our cultural identity is a mix of our beliefs, values and behaviour and can be expressed in our art, music, literature, dress, food, and traditions. It is influenced by our ethnic, religious and political diversity and history. Plenty of scope there then!
The Group organises a variety of activities, such as talks, demonstrations and visits to exhibitions and sites of cultural significance. There is no set day or time. Members are informed about future activities as they are arranged and can participate as they wish.
People must be members of Thorley U3A before they can join the Cultures & Customs group. Membership of the group itself is free. Members are informed of the details and cost of each activity, generally by email and at the U3A monthly meetings, and are asked to inform the activity leader if they wish to participate. Numbers for some activities are limited, for example due to coach capacity. Places for these events will be accepted on a first come first served basis subject to payment being made as requested. Non-group U3A guests will only be accepted when there are spare places.
